Geo-GUIDE is a robust graphic user interface to ESRI's ARC/INFOgeographic information system toolkit. Geo-GUIDE provides nontechnicalpersonnel access to powerful GIS functionality. It insulates the endusers from abstract GIS concepts and terminology such as workspaces,coverages, points, lines, polygons, and topology. Instead, the Geo-GUIDEinterface uses familiar, natural language terms and simple access to GISdatabase features. Geo-GUIDE users are presented with an easy-to-use menuenvironment that supports work area selection from a full database,specification of display coverages and associated text, simple andcomplex database query and query result symbolization, coverage analysisand overlay, and plot and report output.With Geo-GUIDE, users can select a work area by map sheet, databasepolygons, geocodes such as addresses, or ad hoc polygons.
